"Windows XP Fast User Switching":

What Is "Fast User Switching?

Fast user switching is feature built into Windows XP that lets you quickly switch from one user to another without logging off from Windows.  It keeps all of your programs running so that when you log back in, the system "appears" to start up faster.

Why Does This Cause Problems With My Copy Of PC Tattletale?

When you have several people in your family using the fast user switching feature, many programs continue to run inside of Windows even though you're not using them.

PC Tattletale is one of these programs.  For example: If you have 3 people logged in to Windows and they are using Fast User Switching, PC Tattletale (along with other programs) would be running 3 times.  This can can cause your system to run sluggish because you have multiple copies of several programs running at the same time.

Additionally (and more importantly), PC Tattletale will continue to record screen captures of the users that are not signed out of the computer.  When you review the screen captures, you will notice a 'jump' effect between the person using the computer and those who have not signed out (their screens will be blank).

It is for this reason that we strongly recommend turning off Fast User Switching. Not only will this eliminate your issue, but it will enable your PC to run MUCH faster due to the fact that it will have MORE memory available for Windows.

How To Turn off Fast User Switching:

This is very easy to do.  Simply follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to start and select the control panel:

Step 2: Select the user accounts icon from within the control panel

Step 3: Select 'Change the way users log on or off

Step 4: Uncheck the box "Use Fast User Switching."  NOTE: You will have to make sure everyone is logged off the computer before you can uncheck this option:

Reboot your machine and you're done. Congratulations! PC Tattletale and ALL your other programs will now work better.
