McAfee 2009:
McAfee just released the latest version of its anti-virus software for AOL and non-AOL applications.
Unfortunately the new version of the McAfee threat detection engine no longer allows the user (you) to set exclusions for programs you wish to exclude from the McAfee scanning engine.
This is a HUGE mistake on McAfee's part as there are MANY programs that you may wish to exclude from your AV scans.
Hopefully McAfee will see the light and reinstate this important feature sometime in the future.
We recommend contacting McAfee directly to express your displeasure at their short sided decision.
We are keeping a close eye on the situation as it develops and should McAfee once again allow users to set exclusions, we will create a special video that will document the exclusion process.
To receive an email bulletin when the new video is posted, please fill in the form below.
In the meantime in order to remedy this problem we strongly suggest that you choose another Internet security software with more flexibility.
Here are some anti virus programs that work well and are configurable.
The latest version of McAfee that comes bundled with new PC's or that is provided for free by some ISP's like AOL and RoadRunner does NOT allow ANY exclusions whatsoever.
This of course makes this version of McAfee virtually worthless because it allows you no choice in what you will or won't allow on your PC.
In reality the "free software" provided by your PC maker or ISP is essentially a striped down version of the McAfee retail product.
In order to remedy this problem we strongly suggest that you choose another Internet security software with more flexibility.
