Should I Let My child Have Their Own Email Addresses?
There's nothing wrong with allowing children to have their own personal e-mail address. But before you do you must explain to them that you will have to be allowed to monitor it.
When it's time for your child to check his or her mail, it's a good idea if you are the one that opens the mailbox to check its contents or inappropriate language or messages.
Now the older the child becomes the more there are going to complain about this being an invasion of their privacy. And while some people may agree, considering the inherent dangers found on the Internet I believe your child's privacy is secondary to their safety.
It is inevitable that at some point your child will receive pornographic e-mail. And many children are not prepared or emotionally equipped to deal with some of the extremely perverse material they may be sent.
It may seem extreme to have to monitor your child's communications so closely however in this case you may be better safe than sorry.
Take control of your child's online experiences and keep them safe.
