Former teacher receives probation over nude photos sent to teen student:
Michelle R. Moss, 28, of the 163000 block of Westborough Circle in Chesterfield, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of making obscene or indecent commercial telephone messages after she e-mailed topless photos of herself to a male 15-year-old student. The e-mail was sent from or private account.
A misdemeanor in St. Louis County, Moss was placed on two years probation.
Under the terms of her plea agreement if Moss completes probation, the case will not be on her public record and she would not be required to register as a sex offender in Missouri.
unfortunately this is an example of how the court system has failed once again in dealing with sexual predators.
Now we all know there exists a double standard for sex offenders. Typically, women who prey on teenage boys, are almost unanimously given lighter sentences, plea bargains or a simple slap on the wrist.
Had a male teacher sent photos of his genitals to a teenage female student, the story would have been entirely different. Regardless of whether or not the teacher and the student ( who is not yet the age of consent) may claim love and affection for out each other, the fact remains that the teacher is in violation of the Law on legal, ethical and certainly moral grounds.
While there is no evidence of actual sexual contact between the teacher and the underage student, our actions certainly portrayed that and immature and somewhat disturbed adult..
The question is why shouldn’t she have to register as a sex offender? Again had the situation been reversed and the teacher was a male instead of a female, they certainly would not have been allowed to plea bargain out to be two-year probationary sentence
